Personal thanks to omy.sg, I was given a pair of tickets to the movie preview screening of
Here’s a synopsis for you first:
15 years ago, an infamous serial killing case that left 10 women dead shook the nation. Now its statute of limitations is about to expire, and a member of the victim family throws himself off a building in front of the detective Choi who is the primary detective on the case.2 years later, a man named Lee Du-seok publishes a book titled “Confession of Murder”, claiming his responsibility for the murders that took place 17 years ago. His book becomes a huge success, making him an instant celebrity thanks to his beautiful façade and innately danger that’s associated with his presence. Choi can only watch from the sidelines as his hands are tied, because Lee has been pardoned legally.
The law forgave him, but even after the expiration of statute of limitations, the case is not yet over!
My whole point of view about the movie:
At first you may think, meh.. just another thriller.
With a storyline filled with numerous twists and an unexpected ending,
I must say I was really surprised and the ending indeed made my jaw dropped.
From the start, the story began with a pursuit between a detective (Choi Hyung-Goo) and a killer. The first impression was already loud and impressive with the magnificent sound effects coupled with intensive fights, potentially implicating the public members where the pursuit took place.
The pursuit then progressed to outdoors. Though the sound effects was nothing but great, I personally didn’t like some parts of how the movie was filmed. It adopted a running scene from the point of view of a camera man running with them. So imagine the whole screen jerking up and down as the pursuit took place. It wasn’t a very nice image but luckily such scenes appeared a few times only.
Besides, this is not one normal thriller movie where everything is all about fights, blood and arguments. This movie stands out in my opinion because of the intelligent elements incorporated within the thrilling timeline. Many times, you’ll be surprised how the scriptwriter was to think about such amazing things.
Sometimes, you might not be able to realize those small implicit gestures and hints in the movie, but it actually lead on to a bigger picture at the end of the story. That is exactly what was intelligent about the movie that made you unexpected about it, but when you found out about, everything seems natural and commonsensical.
Not to forget about the funny and amusing features of the movie which lightens your heart a little throughout the whole ordeal of finding out who’s the real murder, and the families of the victims trying to kill the original killer, whom has decided to publish a book and depict all the murders he had committed. But ultimately, does the killer has a motive to go all out and publish a book to talk about the murders? Is he out to kill again and whatever he’s doing now is to try to cover his ulterior motives?
You’ll have to watch it yourself 🙂
I’ll rate this movie a 8/10.
The movie will be out TOMORROW (14 March). Be sure to watch it!
It’s NC16 by the way.
Usually I don’t spend money on cinema food, but since the movie is free, I thought why not ^.^
