Amsterdam Travel Guide – Albert Cuyp Market & Nieuwmarkt – Day 3 – Celine Chiam | Singapore Lifestyle, Beauty and Travel Blogger
Day 3 – Amsterdam
Finally, a day all to myself, alone! Solo travelling is one therapeutic session to me. I enjoyed it a lot because I can choose to walk at my own pace, go wherever I prefer without accommodating to friends. That said, there’s always cons of it. For instance, you couldn’t share food well that’s not THAT bad especially when I love food so much, I can finish them all by myself hahaha.
Okay jokes aside, let’s see what’s on for third day in Amsterdam! Because I had to catch the train in the evening, I left my luggage at the Amsterdam Centraal station baggage lockers. It costs 5.3€ for 24 hours, which is slightly more expensive compared to places like Belgium and Austria. But leaving your luggage in the lockers really save you a lot of trouble carrying it around.

I then slowly make my way to the Albert Cuyp Market. It is situated quite far away from the Central station (15-25mins), and you can easily save time by taking a tram there. But since I would like to take a stroll around Amsterdam, and save some money (Amsterdam transportation is very expensive), I decided to walk instead. Did passed by some nice views and shops!
My slow walk took about an hour to reach there, which is a bit exaggerating because like I said, I enjoy walking very slowly when alone! Before I arrived, my stomach already got very excited. Albert Cuyp Market is like a pasamalam here! Food, clothes & little stuff are all for sale. Most importantly, I got to try 2 of Amsterdam’s local food – poffertjes and haring! Now that I mention haring, I am missing it so much! The raw fish (completely raw) tasted very savory. It has a very mushy and soft texture, which not many people would enjoy. But for me, I’ve always like raw food like sashimi, so it was a treat to my tummy. Yum yum harring!

After a good lunch at Albert Cuyp Market, I slowly make my way to Nieuwmarkt, another place with flea market. Here, you don’t find much food stalls but lots of souvenirs and collectibles on sale.

If you’re near the Dam Square, you MUST try the Banketbakkerij ice cream!

And of course, having my last fries indulgence before I leave Amsterdam 🙁
Apparently this is one of the famous frites store from Belgium.
