(Heavy photos post ahead) Last weekend, I had a lovely Staycation with my bf to Hotel Jen Tanglin. It was a much needed break like many Singaporeans. To us, a good alternative to getaways is usually staycations, since you get to spend time alone with your partner without having to attend to the usual distractions in life. Staycations have been one of the favourite things my bf and I love to do because we get to chill out, snuggle in bed and have all the time to ourselves. Our stay at Hotel Jen Tanglin was particularly pleasant because we enjoyed the access to the club lounge and were treated to the buffet at J65 Restuarant! Customer service in general was good as well. Follow me as I bring you through the snippets and highlights of a club room at Hotel Jen Tanglin!
Brief background of Hotel Jen Hotel Jen was previously known as Traders Hotel Singapore. The re-branding was a great move as more people are now aware of Hotel Jen in general. Hotel Jen Tanglin is one of them, and not forgetting Hotel Jen Orchardgateway which I would love to stay one day.

So the bear and I checked in at 2pm, just nice for their check in time!
Check in was pretty fuss-free, we didn’t take too long to check in, and we didn’t have to queue too! The have 2 counters, with 2 receptionists each. But some may not be attended if it’s not the peak period I’m guessing.
Hotel Jen Tanglin lobby is huge! Their restaurant J65 is just beside the lobby, and it has quite a few sofa seats for guests to rest should they be waiting for something.
Complimentary drinks at the lobby for guests to quench their thirsts.
And we got access to the club lounge cos we got Hotel Jen Tanglin’s club room!

The club rooms offer all the features of a Deluxe Room plus Club Lounge benefits, including daily breakfast at the Club Lounge, mid-afternoon treats and a cocktail hour. The Club lounge is accessible on a 24-hour basis with a room key. In addition, guests staying in a Club Room can have one piece of clothing pressed per stay and use the business centre facilities. Perfect for visitors here on a business trip!

Although the room isn’t that huge, I find it adequate enough! The room is newly furnished with nice contemporary interior design and the sofa seat is always welcomed. It’s just lovely to sit by the window, enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the pool while sipping a hot cup of coffee.
Each corner or the room is just so Instagram worthy don’t you think! Very perfectly thought out for different uses as well, like this study table for some work to be done.
Now the shower room!
Besides all the basic toiletries that need no mention, there is one thing that I must highlight!
Have you ever come across hotels providing hair bands as part of their toiletries? Well, I’ve not. Not in Singapore, not in many other countries I’ve visited either. So I was quite surprised to see this, and of course I use it when as usual my hair bands are nowhere to be found hahaha.
The slippers are very comfortable too, not the usual paper slippers.

Room service are priced very affordable too, it’s like the prices of a cafe, except it’s now in the comfort of a hotel room.

Iron board and iron hidden underneath the sofa, talk about efficient storage!
And our room oversees the swimming pool, lovely!
We happened to have some time to spare in the afternoon, so we went ahead to rent these lovely Tokyo bikes. Good thing about Hotel Jen Tanglin is that they offer rental bikes too! They’re all Tokyo bikes so the added bonus is they’re very photogenic as well.
Rode our way to the Botanical Gardens, which is about 10-15 mins ride away. Great for tourists.
There are many good things about Hotel Jen Tanglin, but the only bad thing is the location. It’s not exactly that convenient as compared to Hotel Jen Orchardgateway since it’s quite a distance away from the nearest MRT Stations. But this wasn’t exactly an issue to me because escaping the hustle and bustle of the city is exactly what I looked for, so I am perfectly ok with the hotel location slightly away from town. Besides, it’s only 15 mins walk away from Orchard city center, not too bad! (PS: Then again, why would you want to leave the hotel to visit the town?? Hahaha).
The club lounge also offers 24 hours food and beverages for guests staying in rooms that have the cub lounge privileges. For more on their club lounge offerings, visit here.
But in essence:
Extended weekday breakfasts from 6.30am until 11am
“Jenerous” weekend brunches from 6.30am until 12noon
Mid-afternoon culinary treats
Cocktail hour from 5pm until 7.30pm (free flow alcohol!)
Open from 6am until 10pm. Accessible on a 24-hour basis with a room key
So this means at any point of time you are hungry, you get to enjoy little bites without having to leave your hotel to buy snacks!

These food were offered during their cocktail hour. Pretty decent I would say.
I saw that they have oyster but I guess I didn’t have the luck. Oh well, next time!
DINNER AT J65
So after visiting the club lounge for the cocktail hour, we proceeded to J65 for our dinner buffet.
J65 has a whole lot range of culinary treats and variety for the gluttony you. From western to mediterranean and even Chinese noodles station.
J65 noodles station, offering 6 kinds of laksa. My recommendation is Singapore laksa of course!
And oohhh look at the seafood!
I was a little late for dinner because we were full from some treats at the club lounge, so the food were kind of running out. Either way, we still manage to try all the delicious options here!
If you don’t stay at Hotel Jen, fret not because you can still come here for buffet!

And all kinds of English breakfast like croissants, eggs and sausages.

BREAKFAST AT J65
As much as the club lounge offers amazing selection of breakfast, I think J65 offers a much larger variety of food choices. There’s nasi lemak, Chinese congee, english porridge, salad, fresh fruits and many many more. Oh, let’s not forget the good old cereal!
We got a little too excited as you can tell 😛
There’s also egg station nonetheless.
And my boy is as usual excited over eggs! He LOVES egg yolk, I just can’t! D:
OVERALL REVIEW
Generally I definitely enjoyed my stay here at Hotel Jen Tanglin. The staff service is good – I am always greeted and many of them sure didn’t know I was here to review the hotel (sounds like mystery shopper muahaha). Room is trendy and contemporary, with very comfortable bed and pillows. It definitely gave us a good chance to unwind and relax here for a weekend!
I didn’t see the location as an issue although it’s not right smack in the city, but it’s merely 5-10 mins walk away from Orchard. Perhaps you can ride their rental bikes over? But there’s only four though, so fastest fingers first!
